Wayne started calling in 1958 and called on his first festival in 1959.  He did his first Square dance teaching in 1959, teaching his elementary school class a singing call to perform for a school show.

Wayne became more enthused with calling while in the Army stationed in Germany. In 1967 he became the caller for the Mannheim Mixers and Heidelberg Hoedowners in Germany.  He also served as an officer in ECTA (European Callers and Teachers Association)..

Wayne left Europe in 1969 to attend US Army Flight School, graduating  in 1970. He did limited calling for the next two years due to military duties in Viet Nam and Korea. In 1974 he was stationed at Fort Polk, Louisiana and began calling extensively throughout Texas and Louisiana. In 1978 he retired from the Army (CW3 Instructor Pilot) and began calling  full time.

After moving home to Texas in 1980 he began teaching callers and started The Golden Triangle Callers School in 1985. He has been teaching at least one full curriculum caller school each year since then and conducts many caller seminars and callers schools throughout the United States and in other countries.

In 1987 Wayne was accredited by  CALLERLAB as a General Caller, and 1991 a Caller Coach. He served two terms on the Board Of Governors of CALLERLAB, one term on the Executive Committee, has been the Chairman of the Choreographic Applications Committee, and has served on many other committees. Wayne is the recipient of the Chairman's Award Of Excellence.

In 1991 he started  ROCKIN' M and STAMPEDE RECORDS , recording many top singing calls and Hoedowns. He also started a note service for callers, Mechanics of Choreography, and published monthly notes for Basic, Mainstream, Plus, and Advanced for eight years.  He has authored one book, Surprise Get-outs.

Wayne continues to call full time, maintaining three Mainstream clubs, one Plus club, and one Advanced club weekly and calls special dances and festivals throughout the U. S. and many other countries.

Wayne is married to Carolyn and has a daughter, Cathy, a son, Jeremy, and a grandsons, Andrew & Josh, granddaughters Brittany & Addy.
